A Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) Is a Facility Designed to Treat Wastewater (Sewage) from Homes, Industries and Businesses to Remove Contaminants, making the Water Safe to Discharge into the Environment or Reuse. The Treatment Process Involves Various Stages of Physical, Biological and Chemical Treatment to Eliminate Solids, Organic material and Harmful Microorganisms from the Sewage Water. While a domestic STP focuses on human waste, an Industrial STP must handle “process water” which often contains high concentrations of chemicals, heavy metals, oils, and complex organic compounds that would kill the bacteria in a standard residential plant.
